Welcome to the Wahoo Championship
This year’s tournament will be a four (4) night event commencing on Sunday February 2nd, 2025. It will consist of three (3) competitive fishing days in one of The Bahamas’ most fertile fishing grounds.

Sunday February 2nd

  • Captain’s Meeting at Club House

Tuesday February 4th

Wednesday February 5th

  • Dinner Banquet at

Entry Fee: $1,500.00

Includes:

  • One (1) tournament T-Shirt
  • Four breakfasts/dinners per boat every night.
All anglers must be registered prior to the start of the tournament. Payment is required by Friday January 3rd, 2025. While the fee is non-refundable, Hawk’s Nest Resort & Marina will provide a credit for any participating boat unable to attend, which can be utilized for a future stay.

To facilitate your stay, Hawk’s Nest will offer:

diesel fuel, gasoline fuel, beer, soda, ice, laundry facilities, ocean view rooms with clean showers & pool facilities.
Hawk’s Nest takes Visa, MasterCard, Travelers Checks or Cash.
The Tournament Committee & the entire staff at Hawk’s Nest are looking forward to the arrival of old friends & introducing our Marina to new ones.

Tournament Rules

1. TOURNAMENT LOCATION:

  • Hawk’s Nest Resort & Marina, Cat Island, Bahamas

2. TOURNAMENT FISHING DAYS:

  • Monday February 2nd, 2025
  • Tuesday February 3rd, 2025
  • Wednesday February 4th, 2025

3. FISHING HOURS:

  • 7:30am to 3:30pm
  • “LINES IN” announcement at 7:30am will signify the tournaments ‘Bimini Start’ from outside the breakwater of Hawk’s Nest Marina.
  • “LINES OUT” announcement at 3:30pm. Each line must be removed from the water unless a hook-up time has been registered with the tournament oficial radio.
  • All boats must be inside the breakwater of Hawk’s Nest Marina by 5:30pm.

5. SCORING:

  • One point per pound of eligible wahoo
  • 20lb minimum weight
  • Five (5) eligible wahoo per tournament boat will count to weight total
  • Team with the largest sum of the five (5) eligible wahoo will be the declared winner
  • In the event of a tie in points, team placement is determined by the earliest verified weigh-in time

6. LINES & TACKLE:

  • No electric reels are permitted
  • Six (6) lines are permitted per boat
  • Two (2) wire lines per boat may be used

7. WEIGH IN:

• All fish must be weighed-in every day.
– Whole fish cannot be kept on a boat unless they are cut or marked.
– The committee reserves the right to board any boat at any time to check for whole fish.
– If a whole unmarked fish is found on-board any boat, that boat will be disqualified from the tournament & any monies will not be returned.
• No boat can off-load their catch for weigh-in until verified & counted by a Tournament official.
• All fish must be weighed-in every day.
– Whole fish cannot be kept on a boat unless they are cut or marked.
– The committee reserves the right to board any boat at any time to check for whole fish.
– If a whole unmarked fish is found on-board any boat, that boat will be disqualified from the tournament & any monies will not be returned.
• No “mutilated” fish will be weighed in.
– The Weigh-master’s decision is final & cannot be appealed.
– The tail must be attached to the fish. If any part of the tail is “dangling” the fish will be considered as “mutilated.”
– Cuts suffered by a fish inside a fish-box will be scrutinized on an individual basis.
– Participants are encouraged to utilize fish-boxes with adequate amount of ice and ice water to prevent the scarring of fish.
• In case of a mechanical breakdown, fish cannot be transferred from one boat to another.

8. COMMUNICATION:

  • A radio channel will be designated for communications between the participating boats.
  • Lands to be called into the Committee boat.
  • The Committee boat will only communicate with the participating boats one half-hour prior to the Bimini start & one-half hour prior to the Boats crossing the Terminator line.
  • Hawk’s Nest will monitor normal radio traffic.

9. PROTEST:

  • This is an “Honor System” tournament with each angler being responsible for his or her own performance.
  • Any person witnessing a rule violation should submit a protest in writing to the tournament committee no later than 6:00pm on the day of the violation.
  • All decisions made by the tournament committee are final.
